Walk safely to school day 2023

On Friday the 19th of May 2023, the students, families and teachers at High Wycombe Primary School were joined by the local police to particate in the National Walk Safely to School Day. The local police came with motorbikes and cars, to ensure students walked safely with their families. Even the local MLA, Stephen Price, joined us. It was a community event seeking to promote road safety, health, public transport and the environment.

Over 100 people consisting of students, staff, parents and community members, were excited to be escorted to school on this day by police on motorbikes and police cars. Every student who walked to school on the day received a temporary tattoo promoting the Walk Safely to School logo. The City of Kalamunda provided pens, balls and colour pop fidget toys for those students who walked.

High Wycombe Primary School is a Mentally Healthy School and aims to promote the Act, Belong, Commit Campaign. This campaign encourages people to take action and protect their mental health and wellbeing by getting active, becoming connected to people and their community, and committing to a cause or learning something new.
