Resiliency

At High Wycombe Primary we deliver a resiliency program that teaches and models to students the ability to 'bounce back from adversity' in order to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. We teach that being resilient involves seeking new experiences and opportunities and taking safe risks and encourage students to have the determination to work through the challenges of life.

The school Resiliency mascot is a Gecko which symbolises being able stick with or adapt to challenges set before us.

Our school provides explicit teaching of personal and social capabilities that foster resilience and wellbeing among our students.

The resiliency skills and attitudes taught are listed under four elements of :

  • Self-awareness
  • Self-management
  • Social awareness
  • Social management

Students are awarded Resiliency Tokens by teachers for displaying Resiliency, each month one lucky student is selected at random to be the Resiliency Award Winner.     This is proudly supported by Belmont Forum.
